Hey there! 🙋🏻️
I’m switching gears today and telling you a little story—a traumatic one for me but an entertaining one nonetheless. 😂
So I was in the shower, lights off, trying to decompress. You know that kind of shower—the I-just-want-dark-and-silent one. I had just finished rinsing off, all relaxed, when I reached out for my towel in the dim light.
I wiped my face and neck gently—and boom, crash the lightning flashed! (get my reference? Lol) 💥💥💥
Burn. Sting. Confusion. Why does my skin feel like it’s on fire? Why am I feeling little bits under my fingertips? Is my skin peeling? Is this a horror movie?? Am I being attacked???
Nope. Ants. 🙈
I turned on the lights and looked at my hand.
Black ants. A ga-jillion black ants.
On my fingers. Moving. Biting.
Cue: internal scream. 😱 I threw the towel down and jumped back into the shower so fast that I even surprised myself ngl.
Apparently, my towel had become a favorite hangout spot for ants while I wasn’t looking—probably drawn to the moisture or warmth. How was I supposed to know ants like damp towels?? And in that peaceful, dim moment (I didn’t turn on the lights, and the windows barely let anything in), I unknowingly smeared a handful of them across my face and neck. 😭
The stinging got worse by the second. No itch yet, just straight-up burning. My skin was swelling. Angry little welts were forming. Definitely not the post-shower calm I had in mind.
My mind frantic as I look at the damage. It was straight out of a creature feature if the creature were millions of ants.
But thank goodness I had Oleia Lavender Oil on hand. 🪻
After drying off with a new non-ant infested towel, I reached for my bottle gently massaged it onto the burning areas, slapped on a cold compress, and did some deep breathing to remind myself I wasn’t dying—just traumatized.
And you know what?
Within minutes, everything calmed down. The swelling faded, the redness eased, and the burning stopped. It didn’t itch like I expected after the burn. By bedtime, the welts were barely visible. It was almost like nothing happened—except the ✨emotional damage✨.
Oleia Lavender Oil is formulated with anti-inflammatory oils like moringa seed, olive, cetylated fatty acids, but it’s that lavender essential oil that really knows how to hush irritated skin. I usually use it for minor itches, insect bites, or just calming down after a long day—but I didn’t expect it to literally rescue my face from an army of ants. 🪖🐜
So if you've ever underestimated the danger of a dark towel in a dark room or trusted too blindly in the peace of your own bathroom, you are not alone.
Moral lesson: Don’t shower in the dark. Or at least check your towels before you do.
Or—if you’re feeling adventurous—just have a bottle of Oleia on hand. 💜

Show me your bottle and I’ll show you mine? 'Til next time! 😝
