The Dad Who Says He's Fine: Why Fathers (Men) Often Ignore Pain 💪🏻👨🏻

Hey there! 👀

My dad sprained his ankle a while back. Nothing major, but there was enough swelling for all of us to agree he needed to stay off it for a bit. We did the whole routine: elevated his leg, iced it, applied Oleia, wrapped it, and kept a close eye on it.

I, of course, took my role as Chief Enforcer of Bed Rest very seriously. (Read: I repeatedly reminded him to rest until compliance was achieved.) 😌

And then I left the room for twenty minutes.

When I came back, I found him downstairs, casually shuffling around the house because he needed to “exercise” 🤦🏻

I was annoyed. I wasn't surprised.

Because it was just so incredibly Dad. 😝

And honestly? I don't think my dad is the only one.

Ask a lot of fathers how they're feeling after a long drive, a day in the garden, carrying heavy groceries, or tackling a weekend project, and you'll probably get the same answer:

"Okay lang."

Even when they're clearly not.

Why do dads do this?

Part of it may be how many men were raised. For generations, fathers were taught to keep going, push through discomfort, and put everyone else's needs before their own. Rest wasn't always seen as productive. Complaining wasn't encouraged. So aches, stiffness, and soreness often became things to tolerate rather than address. 🫣

The funny thing is, pain doesn't disappear just because we ignore it.

The sore shoulder that never quite loosens up. The stiff knees every morning. The lower back that complains after a long day. Over time, these little discomforts can affect how we move, sleep, and enjoy the things we love.

That's why Father's Day this weekend isn't just about celebrating everything Dad has done for us. It's also a reminder that he deserves care, too.

Sometimes that care looks like reminding him to sit down for a minute. Sometimes it means helping him take a break. And sometimes it's as simple as keeping his favorite Oleia oils nearby.

Whether it's Oleia Frankincense Oil for tired joints, Oleia Peppermint Oil for cooling comfort, or Oleia Lavender Oil at the end of a long day, these small rituals can help bring a little relief to the men who rarely ask for it themselves.

This Father's Day, maybe we don't wait for Dad to admit he's hurting.

Maybe we simply take care of him the way he's always taken care of us.

Even if he protests the entire time. 😝

Show me your bottle and I'll show you mine? 'Til next time! 💜
