Tired Even on Your Day Off : When Your Brain Doesn’t Know How to Clock Out 🕛🧠

Hey there!

September has been… a lot. 🙈

Work suddenly went into sprint mode. Clients have rush items, new developments are coming in left and right, and somehow everything seems to need an answer, an update, or a decision right now. There are days when I’m talking to so many people and clients, jumping from one concern to another, that by the end of the day, I feel like my brain has run a marathon.

Except… I didn’t actually do much physical activity. 🫣

Maybe I walked around the office, replied to a hundred emails, talked to a dozen people, and got up for water a few times. Yet by the time I get home, I’m exhausted. Not just physically tired. Mentally tired. Soul tired. 😂

And the funny thing? Even on my day off, I STILL feel tired.

If you’ve ever experienced this, you’re not imagining it. There’s a difference between physical exhaustion, mental fatigue, poor sleep, and simply needing a proper break.

Your brain uses plenty of energy when you’re constantly making decisions, solving problems, answering questions, switching between tasks, and dealing with people all day. You can be sitting at a desk and still feel completely drained.

Then there’s the problem of never really switching off. You may be technically resting, but your mind is still thinking about tomorrow’s deadlines, unfinished tasks, or that one client message you haven’t answered yet. 🙋🏻

Sometimes, the answer isn’t another cup of coffee. It’s actual recovery.

Get enough sleep, eat regular balanced meals, stay hydrated, move your body when you can, and give yourself some time where you’re not expected to solve anything. Your day off should not become another workday with fewer emails.

It also helps to create a little ritual that tells your brain, okay, we're done for today.

A warm shower. Comfy clothes. Your favorite quiet corner. Maybe a few drops of Oleia Lavender Oil as part of your evening wind-down routine. 🪻  Its calming lavender scent can make those few minutes feel like a deliberate transition from “work mode” to “finally, me mode.”

Because sometimes, you don't need to accomplish anything else.

You just need to let yourself clock out.

Even if your brain needs a few minutes to get the memo. And now excuse me, I need to give my brain this same memo. 😆

Show me your bottle and I’ll show you mine? ‘Til next time! 🫩
