Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita) is extracted from the leaves of the plant by the process of steam distillation. Peppermint is a perennial plant that belongs to the family of Lamiaceae. It grows to a height of 12-35 inch. The flowers are purple in colour, while leaves and stems are hairy in nature. The leaves are collected soon the plants start flowering and is dried for the extraction of oils from it.  Benefits of Peppermint Oil: The main chemical constituents of Peppermint essential oil are Menthol, Menthone and other constituents. Menthol is known to be analgesic and is thus beneficial for reducing pain such as headaches, muscle aches, and inflammation. Menthone is known to be analgesic as well, but it is also believed to show antiseptic activity. Its invigorating properties lend the oil its energizing effects. Used medicinally, Peppermint essential oil has been found to eliminate harmful bacteria, relieve muscle spasms and flatulence, disinfect and soothe inflamed skin and to release muscle tension when used in a massage. When diluted in a Carrier Oil like Oleia Pure Oil and rubbed into the feet, it can work as a natural effective fever reducer. Used topically, Peppermint acts as an astringent that closes pores and tightens the skin. It's cooling and warming sensations make it an effective anesthetic that leaves the skin numb to pain and calms redness and inflammation. It has traditionally been used as a cooling chest rub to relieve congestion. Uses of Peppermint Oil: In a diffuser, Peppermint oil can help to enhance relaxation, concentration, memory, energy and wakefulness. For increased focus and concentration, mix Peppermint Oil and Rosemary Oil on a 2:1 ratio. Blend oils thoroughly in a separate bottle. Based on diffuser manufacturer’s instructions, add the appropriate number of drops of the blended oil to your diffuser. When used topically in homemade moisturisers, the cooling and calming effects of Peppermint essential oil can relieve sore muscles. Historically, it has been used to reduce itchiness and the discomfort of inflammation, headaches, and joint pains. The plant grows up to a height of 1 to 2 meters and its flowers are lavender or pinkish-purple in color. Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil Lavender Essential Oil is well known for its sedative properties and for its ability to help calm stress and anxiety and to help promote sleep. When lavender fragrance is inhaled, the brain processes the smell as calming, allowing the brain and body to relax.  It may promote faster onset of deeper sleep with a decreased number of sleep disturbances. Lavender Essential Oil helps reduce stress by reducing cortisol levels that contribute to stress hormone. Diffuser Blend to induce sleep: Mix Lavender Oil and Tangerine Oil on a 3:1 ratio, for example, 6 drops of Lavender Oil and 2 drops of Tangerine Oil. Mix oil thoroughly in a glass bottle or container. Pour Oil blend in a diffuser with the right amount of water.
