Hey there! 🌧️
It's been raining nonstop these past few days, and across Luzon, this isn't the cozy kind of rain that makes you want to curl up with a warm drink. In a lot of places, it's brought massive flooding, disrupted homes and livelihoods, and left so many of us worried about getting our loved ones somewhere safe. 😟
When the weather gets this relentless, taking care of ourselves can feel like the last thing that matters. But maybe, especially on the hard days, it matters more than we think.
Self-care doesn't always look like a face mask or a long bath. Sometimes it's simply staying indoors when it isn't safe to go out, though I know it’s a luxury. 🏠 Getting some sleep when we finally have the chance. Drinking enough water, eating something nourishing, checking on someone we love, and letting ourselves slow down.
Our skin gets a little confused in this kind of weather too. We shower more after getting caught in the rain, spend hours in damp clothes, sit in rooms that never quite feel dry. All of that can leave skin feeling uncomfortable, dry, or irritated. Eczema flares, and a lot of “kati-kati” suddenly sprout. 🫣
So we go back to the basics: keep skin clean, change out of wet clothes as soon as we can, and moisturize when it needs a little extra care. For my family and I, Oleia is part of that small ritual, nothing complicated, just a few minutes to take care of our skin and health, and a reminder that the rougher the times, the more we have to take care of ourselves.
We can't make the rain stop. We can't control the flooding or everything happening around us. But we can choose to be a little gentler with ourselves while we get through it.
If you're somewhere affected by flooding right now, please put safety first. Stay updated through official local advisories, avoid flooded roads, and check on the people around you. Be safe out there, yeah? 🙏🏻
Show me your bottle and I'll show you mine? 'Til next time!
xo, L.
