Hey there! 👋🏻
After understanding how stress and pain are connected in the previous blog, this time, we’re getting into what that actually looks like in real life—why stress shows up as body pain, what habits might be making it worse, and more importantly, what we can start doing to ease it. Let’s goooo. 🟢
Why does stress show up as physical pain in our body?
It often starts small. A tight neck after a long day. A lingering headache. That familiar ache in the shoulders or lower back.
As you know stress doesn’t stay in the mind, it affects our whole bodies too.
When we’re stressed, muscles tighten, breathing gets shallow, and sleep takes a hit. Over time, that constant tension builds up, making the body more sensitive to pain. Even old injuries can flare up during stressful periods…all part of the loop. ➰
What habits make it worse?
When we’re stressed we tend to:
Hold tension (tight shoulders, clenched jaw)
Overthink and stay on edge
Move less because we feel drained
These patterns feel automatic, but they keep the body stuck. The less we move, the tighter we get. The more we focus on discomfort, the stronger it feels. 🙈
Why does it feel worse at night?
Because everything catches up.
By the end of the day, tension, fatigue, and lack of movement all pile up. Add poor sleep, and the body doesn’t recover fully. The cycle continues the next day. 😔
So what can we do about it?
If you’re thinking of a grand life overhaul, that’s not how to build habits. So let’s start small, shall we?
- Move regularly throughout the day: Stretch, walk, or do simple movements to ease tension and keep the body from getting stiff. 🚶🏻
- Practice slow, controlled breathing: Deep breathing helps calm the nervous system and reduce stress in the body. 🌬️
- Create a wind-down routine at night: A few quiet minutes before bed, without screens, can improve sleep and recovery.
- Support the body where tension builds: Apply Oleia Topical Oil to the neck, shoulders, or lower back to help ease tightness and discomfort.
- Support the body from within: Oleia Softgels help manage inflammation and support the body’s response to stress. ⚪
Small, consistent shifts can help the body release tension and reset its response to stress. Over time, pain feels less intense and easier to manage. The body responds to what we do daily, not occasionally. With the right support, it can shift from holding tension to letting it go. So give it time, take it one step at a time and break that cycle.
